About Us : Kirsi Tuomanen Hill

Kirsi Tuomanen Hill

Kirsi is an all-around lover of learning – she believes there is no such thing as a boring subject and that content areas aren’t separate in the way the average school day suggests. After having thought she was both “good” and “bad” at any number of skills throughout her life (sometimes even the same skill), her goal is to help people see that they are born learners and can engage with any content area if they have a desire or a need. (Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!!)

Kirsi has performed a range of teaching and tutoring jobs since 2009, working with pre-K through adult students in varied settings on art, math, reading, standardized tests, and more. She scored a 36 on the current ACT. Kirsi majored in the History of Art and minored in Museums and Society at Johns Hopkins University, graduating with honors in three years. She also received a Homewood Arts Certificate and the Eugene Leake Award for outstanding achievement in the visual arts. She holds a Post-Bac Certificate in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Master’s Degree in Pre-K-12 Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. When she is not teaching or writing learning materials, Kirsi can be found creating surface designs for fabric.
